A Finished Object: Wire Bracelet

Yay! I'm done with the quickie wire and bead bracelet I started a couple of days ago. I have posted pictures as well as instructions for how to make one on my blog.

Picture Success!

I've finally gotten an okay picture of my wire and bead knitted bracelet. It looks a bit more delicate in real life, I think, but you can click here to see the picture for yourself. Not-Yarn is great fun!

Wire + Beads + Knitting Needles = Fun!

While at the fabric store for completely non-knitting related supplies (like new pinking shears after breaking mine cutting up dress shirts for the rug I'm making for this not-yarn-along), I realized they actually sold jewelry-making goodies, too. Having seen that jewelry can be knitted, I couldn't resist the temptation to snatch up a few packets of beads, some clasps and some wire. I spent the better part of yesterday evening threading the colorful beads onto my wire. Then, I cast on and now have about half a bracelet. I love the look of it. Just doing a simple garter stitch, placing a bead between each stitch makes a stunning little bracelet. It's actually quite dainty.

I attempted to photograph the thing, but it doesn't seem very photogenic (darn double chin). My camera seems to have trouble focusing in on it. I'm going to attempt it again after recharging the camera batteries and see if it'll work better if I just place it on an all white background. I'll let you know when I get a picture of it posted on my site so you can come have a look.

RexLace

Hey all! Sorry I don't have pictures at the moment, but I think I might be using RexLace as my medium for the project... I started knitting a swatch on size 7s, and I am noticing it can be a pain b/c it's flat & depending on how it twists, the loop size varies. So my cast-on row is atrocious! I thought it could make a cute purse - maybe something like this (only obviously not furry ;) I bought a spool (100 yrds) each of RexLace in color #44 (clear raspberry) and #25 (silver sparkle). Let me know what you think!

Recycled Dress Shirt Rug: Progress Report

I've finished a bit more on my Recycle Dress Shirt Rug, and I've posted a picture of what I've done so far on my blog. I see others have posted pictures of their goodies here on the Not Yarn Along site, but I'm so lazy with the double posting that I'll just give you a link to my site if you're interesting in seeing how my rug is going. If you want to see it, click here.

Straw...

For my Not Yarn project I decided to use straw. I found these two old straw hats that were bought years ago at a dollar store and decided that I would Recycle them into a snail purse. I think I might mix some yarn in with it, not sure yet.

Here are the hats before froggin...

Recycled Dress Shirt Rug

We're off to a loping start on the rug I decided to make out of my husband's frayed dress shirts. If you're interested in how it's going, and in seeing a first picture of some knitted dress-shirt-yarn, take a little gander at my site.

Leather

I have a couple of not-yarn projects in mind, but I decided to start with the Corral Belt from Knit Wit. It's made out of leather cord. Here is a picture of my progress so far:

And here is a close up:

As you can see, it ends up looking sort of like a braided belt.
